After earning his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from Pepperdine University, he joined Heller Construction and went on to co‑found Heller Companies with his father, Brian.

A licensed general contractor with more than 35 years of construction experience, Jay also holds both a real estate broker’s license and a property management license. His industry leadership includes serving as President of NAIOP Southern Nevada, where he also chaired the Government Affairs Committee for several years.

He is the President of the Tropicana Business and Community Coalition and a member of the Advisory Council for the UNLV Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies. Jay is also a Developer Associate of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) and a corporate member of the International Code Council (ICC).
